Description

Try this easy recipe for Baked Parmesan Tomatoes, a perfect blend of juicy tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, and fresh herbs. Great as a side or appetizer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 large beefsteak tomatoes
  • 1 cup shaved Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 tablespoons fresh Italian parsley, roughly chopped

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prepare

Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray to prevent sticking and ensure an easy cleanup.

2. Slice the Tomatoes

Carefully slice the beefsteak tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Arrange them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

3. Add the Parmesan

Generously top each tomato slice with shaved Parmesan cheese. Feel free to pile it on for that golden, cheesy crust!

4. Season with Herbs

Sprinkle the dried basil and oregano evenly over the cheese-covered tomatoes. These herbs will bring out the flavors of the tomatoes and complement the richness of the Parmesan.

5. Bake to Perfection

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the Parmesan cheese melts and forms a golden, bubbly crust.

6. Garnish with Fresh Parsley

Once the tomatoes are out of the oven, sprinkle them with freshly chopped Italian parsley. This will add a burst of freshness and a touch of color to your dish.

Notes

Storage Information

If you have any leftovers, store the Baked Parmesan Tomatoes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For best results, reheat in the oven to retain the cheese’s crispy texture. Freezing is not recommended as the tomatoes can become soggy when thawed.
